On July 15, 2006, at the Union Summer Slam Tournament, Michelle Coyle, age 12, of the West Milford Xtreme Gold did what most pitchers only dream of — she pitched a perfect game — by defeating the Abbington (Pennsylvania) Angels by a score of 8-0. Due to a mercy rule the game only lasted five innings, the Pa. team sent 15 batters to the plate - and Coyle retired all 15. She threw only 41 pitches and struck out eight batters, including the first five batters of the game. Said Coyle, “I couldn’t have done it without my team behind me - they all played great and kept me going the whole time.”
