Newton’s Luke Sayner led a pack of 17 local runners to the finish of the Third Annual Draft Day 5K at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford on Saturday. Sayner completed the 3.1-mile course through and around the stadium with the finish line on the field where the Giants and Jets battle during the NFL season in a time of 21:54. Oak Ridge’s 23-year old Amy Schoonmaker won the 20 to 24-year old women’s age division, posting the gold medal clocked of 22:42. With the proceeds of the event going to benefit programs supported by The Giants Foundation, which acts as a network for financial and social support for disadvantaged youth and their families throughout the greater metropolitan area.
