Festival crown Kelly Keil turned in a triple-double performance to propel Sparta to a 47-35 victory over Jefferson in the championship game of the SCIL Girls Basketball Festival on Saturday in Hardyston. Keil pumped 21 points through the iron, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked 11 shots as she was named the tournament MVP and the SCIL/Richards and Summers Player of the Week. The win was the 23rd straight for the unbeaten Lady Spartans. Leading 16-10 after eight minutes, Sparta went on a 12-3 run in the second quarter to open up a 28-13 lead by the halftime break. Staci Rossi chipped in with nine points, distributed nine assists and picked off 11 steals while Lauren Baker added eight points as Sparta claimed its 14th SCIL Festival title in addition to picking up the regular-season championship banner with a perfect league record of 18-0. Jefferson, which dropped to 17-7, was led by Tracy Bartke who netted 10 points and Dedra Pritchard who popped nine into the basket.
