    Newton 8, Sparta 0 Newton's Heather Connelly, already the SCIL's career and single-season scoring leader in field hockey, is off to an outstanding start in her senior season, collecting eight goals and three assists in the first two games. On Wednesday, Connelly had a hat trick in the first half and finished with four goals and two assists as the Braves romped to an 8-0 victory over Sparta. Connelly is the SCIL Player of the Week. Amy Keegan chipped in with a pair of goals while Natalie Elvidge and Heather McGuire completed the scoring parade. Amanda Miller dished off a pair of assists with Elvidge, Ashley Meisinger, Lia Ordile and Devon Westra picking up solo assists. Wallkill 3, Jefferson 0 Amanda Nann scored twice and dished off an assist on the first goal of the game by Kara Buda as Wallkill Valley blanked Jefferson 3-0. Samantha Nann earned the shutout by coming up with a pair of saves. Pope John 4, Hopatcong 3 (OT) Pope John pulled out a 4-3 win over Hopatcong when Katie Frick tallied the game-winner eight minutes into overtime. Nicole Loemers scored twice for the Lions, with Samantha Bell scoring the other goal off an assist by Meredith Harclerode. Lenape 5,North Warren 2 Val Hanna and Lyndsay Lyons each tallied a goal and dished off an assist as Lenape Valley rolled to a 5-2 win over North Warren in the "Battle of the Patriots" played in Stanhope. Allie Schubert opened the scoring 1:31 into the game off an assist from Tempe Newson who scored later in the first half with Megan Cicchetti picking up an assist. Kittatinny 4, Lenape 1 Kittatinny rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Lenape Valley 4-1. Melanie Beier netted the first and last Cougar goals sandwiched around scores by Nicole DiBattista and Erin McGinnis. Cougar goalkeeper Kelly McCaskill came up with six saves.
