— Girls on the Run is a non-profit, youth development program with over 200 chapters in the United States. Girls on the Run New Jersey North is proud to bring this program to West Milford. The mission of the organization is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience based curriculum which creatively integrates running. The Girls on the Run program serves girls in grades 3 through 5.

The 24-lesson curricula empowers girls with a greater sense of self-awareness, a sense of achievement, a foundation in team building and a commitment to enhancing their communities. Lessons include topics such as, peer pressure, gossiping, how to choose your friends, body image and the media, and so much more. The running portion of the program is used as a modality to get the message across - you can do anything - by teaching motivation through achievement.

Each team meets twice a week for an hour and a half. Spring session begins March 3 and concludes with a celebratory 5K on May 17. Girls on the Run will take place in West Milford on Mondays and Thursdays, beginning March 3, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the West Milford Presbyterian Church.
