Gymnasts score first win of season Beats Passaic Valley in tri-meet

    — The West Milford gymnastics team competed in a tri-meet on Sept. 26 against Passaic Valley High School and Pascack Regional High School. The Lady Highlanders pulled in strong performances against both teams, beating Passaic Valley.
    The Lady Highlanders vault team swept the competition with Passaic Valley with Emily McNamara (8.35), Ariann McGuinness (8.125) and Brielle Mulvihill (7.525) placing first, second and third respectively, followed by their teammates Samantha Corter and Samantha Barrere, who came in fourth and fifth.
    Bars proved a strength for the Highlanders with Sydney Llewellyn scoring a high score of 7.175, placing first against Passaic Valley. Sara Sekelsky (5.15) earned a second place finish against Passaic Valley. She was followed closely by her teammates Jackie Leddy, Arianna McGuinness and Julia Leybin.
    Emily McNamara had a very competitive score of 8.8 on beam, giving her a first place finish against Passaic Valley and a second place against Pascack Regional. West Milford swept Passaic Valley with Alyssa Herbaugh, Brielle Mulvihill, Kate Schultz and Sara Longo giving strong performances on beam.
    West Milford proved unbeatable on floor. Lauren Chimileski was tops on the day against both teams with a score of 8.875. West Milford teammates Gianna Barrere (8.1) and Samantha Czulada (7.825) came in second and third against Passaic Valley, sweeping the floor event.
