Hardyston - The Hardyston Township Middle School hosted its 26th annual basketball tournament from Feb. 13 through Feb. 17, including boys’ and girls’ teams from Franklin, Sussex-Wantage, Kittatinny, Frankford, Hardyston, Lafayette, Green, Hamburg, Vernon, Ogdensburg, Byram and Newton. Vernon took first place in the boys’ division, with Byram placing second and Frankford finishing third. Scott Wagonblast of Byram was named the most valuable player in the boys’ division. Wagonblast was also named to the all-tournament team along with Brian Davies of Green, Mike Oldock of Frankford, and E. J. Schneider and Ricky Hernberger of Vernon. In the girls’ division, Sussex-Wantage took first place, with Franklin placing second and Lafayette finishing third. Alayna Donadio of Sussex-Wantage was named most valuable player for the girls. The girls’ all-tournament team included Donadio, as well as Kelli Anne Baumann of Vernon, Ryan Kelly of Lafayette, Ashley Napovier of Franklin and Sarah Meibach of Sussex-Wantage. All-tournament teams and the most valuable players were selected by coaches. Team trophies and all-tournament team trophies were donated by D.W. Clark Bus Company and S.T. Pappas Transport Company. The MVP trophies were donated by Newton Trophy Co.
