— Luke Renzland of Hewitt, an Amateur National Champion Motocross racer, won both motos in the 250 Pro Expert Class recently at the Kawasaki Race of Champions (KROC). This year marked the 36th year of this classic event.
Raceway Park, located in Old Bridge Township, again hosted the 2012 edition of the Team Green (Kawasaki) Motocross Race of Champions, the east coast’s most prestigious Fall Classic Motocross Race.
After getting out of the gate fast in the first moto, Luke quickly established his lead, and came in first with a comfortable distance ahead of the second place finisher.
In the second moto, 17-year-old Luke got caught in a small tie up and fell back to fourth before working his way up to the lead by the second lap. He then took off and won easily.
“It feels great to be back on the bike and on the podium again,” Luke said, “and I am looking forward to the nationals in 2013. My pro career will start in August next year at Southwick.”
Luke will be heading south now for intense training in preparation for the Thanksgiving week Mini O’s, the last Amateur National Championship in 2012.
