    Tom Primo scored twice and Frank Mobilio once as High Point skated to a 3-2 win over Sparta in a non-league ice hockey match played in Hackettstown. It was the first-ever “W” for the Wildacts’ new ice hockey program after five losses. Goalie Andy Meltran made 26 saves, while Dan Benson and Chris DiBerardino picked up assists. High Point opened the 2005-2006 wrestling campaign with a 49-23 victory over Hunterdon Central in Wantage. Greg Martin produced the fastest fall, beating Steve Parcel 30 seconds into the 135-pound bout. Gavin Tersa defeated Ben Spencer in the 125-pound match in 56 seconds, while Tyler Forbeck (103), Connor Perdisatt (140), Steve D’Amato (145) and Alex Dalrymple (171) also pinned their opponents. Kristen Pabst swam to a pair of first place finishes as High Point surged to a 107-63 win over Jefferson in an SCIL girls swim meet. Pabst won the 50-yard freestyle in 26:04 and the 100-yard freestyle in 58.81. Nicole Ferlo (200 individual medley), Rebecca Fountain (500 freestyle), Kylie Mearkle (100 butterfly) and Maria Starling (200 freestyle) also produced first-place efforts. Mikatla Wingle led all scorers with 16 points to key High Point’s 50-19 rout of Hopatcong in an SCIL girls’ basketball game. Kristyn Dombroski added 13 points as the Wildcats went on a 14-2 run in the second quarter to open up a 21-7 advantage by intermission. Wingle, who scored 19 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had seven steals in a 55-30 win over Vernon two days earlier, was chosen SCIL and Summers player of the week. Ray Frey sank a trio of three-pointers in the opening two minutes to spark High Point to a 21-12 lead in the first eight minutes as the Wildcats rolled to a 74-54 win over Hopatcong in a boys’ basketball game. Mike Claus posted a double-double, with a game-high 20 points and 11 rebounds. Eric Caton had 17 points and Austin Bentson added 12.
