Jeff Russo doubled, winning the 200-yard individual medley (2:27.20) and 100-yard butterfly (1:10.67) to spark the boys domination of the Wildcats. Kristen Ferriero was fastest to the finish wall in the 200-yard individual medley (2:22;54) and 100-yard freestyle (56.89) while teammate Anna Susko won the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.73) and 500-yard freestyle (5:33.93) to spur the Lady Lions’ success. Not only did the Tidal Waves of the combined Wallkill Valley/Sussex Tech squad captured their first team wins in two years, they did it impressive styles posting a 101-68 triumph over Kittatinny in the boys’ competition while the girls routed the Lady Cougars 111-59. Julian Gonzalez, Steve Kneidl, Rocky Tironi, Emanuel Uster and Derek Wildert turned in first place performances for the Tidal Waves. Frosh Kristie Brino doubled in the girls’ races, winning the 100-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle. Vernon swept to a pair of victories over previously unbeaten Sparta. Joe Sweeny raced to first place finishes in the 100 and 200-meter freestyles to spur the Vikings to a 107-62 win while Kellyanne Tomasula doubled in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly as the Lady Vikings posted a 97-73 victory. Jordan Kowalski and Trevor Silbernagel took two first-place finishes apiece as Jefferson cruised to a 105-54 triumph over Lenape Valley. Kowalski sprinted to victories in the 50 and 100 freestyle events while Silbernagel touched first in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly. In the girls’ competition, LVR swam to a 101-69 win over the Lady Falcons. Jordan Kowalski keyed the Lady Patriots success, winning the 50 and 100 freestyle races and was chosen the LVR Athlete of the Week.
