WEST MILFORD – The West Milford High School baseball team bounced back from its season opening loss with a win against Wayne Valley on Monday.
After going down 2-1 in the first inning, the Highlanders responded by scoring four runs in the bottom of the second.
West Milford was able to hold onto the lead for good after that, although the Indians kept it close.
    The final score was 6-5.
Senior Brandon Licuris was instrumental in the Highlanders’ big second inning, with his two-out, two-RBI single.
Fellow seniors Joey Hubinger and Andrew Corter also both had two hits for West Milford in the game.
In the four innings that Billy Egan pitched in the win, the junior had two strikeouts and allowed just a single run.
Going into Monday’s contest, West Milford was coming off of another close game against Kinnelon.
That one, however, was a different story as the Highlanders were held scoreless after getting two runs in the first inning, losing by a final score of 3-2.
The Highlanders (1-1) were scheduled to travel to Wayne Valley next to play the Indians once again on April 3.
