Highlanders baseball falls to Paramus

The Highlanders baseball team lost to Paramus in the quarterfinals of the North Jersey Section 1, Group 3 Tournament in Paramus May 24.
West Milford entered the tournament as the eighth seed while the Spartans entered as the first.
The score was tied at 1-1 through the first inning before Paramus scored two runs in the bottom of the second and two more the following inning to take a 5-1 lead.
The Highlanders would knock in three more runs of their own by the top of the sixth, but it wasn’t enough as the Spartans won by a final score of 5-4.
Zack Milko went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI in the losing effort, while Mike Wis went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Jack Vreeland and Andrew Corter each had an RBI in the game as well.
Billy Egan struck out five batters and allowed four hits in 3+ innings pitched, while Christian Aiello had three strikeouts in his 2+ innings on the mound, allowing four earned runs along the way.
Wis earned 1st team All-Passaic County honors for the season, while Joe Hubinger and Brandon Licursi earned 2nd team honors
Aidan McDaniel and Chris Gomez received honorable mentions.
The All-County honors were chosen by baseball coaches throughout Passaic County.
The Highlanders finished the season with a record of 14-7.
