Highlanders baseball team wins seventh straight

The Highlanders baseball team beat Paterson Kennedy in an away game on Tuesday for the team’s seventh consecutive victory.
Both teams were tied at 4-4 going into the seventh before West Milford exploded for nine runs in the top of the inning.
The Knights would score just one more run in the game.
The final score was 13-5.
Brandon Licursi went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, two runs, and a home run in the win, while teammate Christian Valenzano went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs.
Zack Milko also went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs, while Chris Gomez went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run. Andrew Corter had 2 RBIs in the game as well.
Going into Tuesday’s game, West Milford was coming off of a close home win over Wayne Hills on Monday.
The teams were tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the 11th inning before Aidan McDaniel hit a two-out RBI double, sending Jack Vreeland to home plate for the win.
The Highlanders were actually down 2-0 in the game until Gomez hit a two-out, two-run single in the fourth to tie it up.
Pitchers Christian Aiello and Mike Wis each had five strikeouts in the win.
Monday’s game followed another home win over Passaic Valley in which the Highlanders scored eight runs in the third inning.
The Hornets were never able to recover and the final score was 10-0.
Wis went 3-for-3 with an RBI in the game, while Licursi went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Joe Hubinger also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs, while Gomez had a hit, two RBIs, and a run. Vreeland went 2-for-3 as well with two runs.
Wis also recorded four strikeouts and allowed just three hits in his five innings pitched.
The Highlander’s last loss came on April 12 against Passaic Tech.
West Milford (9-3) was scheduled to travel to Wayne next on May 1, where the team looked to keep its winning streak alive against Wayne Hills.
