Highlanders boys lacrosse team splits games

    West Milford.The Highlanders boys lacrosse team got back on track with a home win over Passaic Valley on Monday.
    After the teams went back and forth with a goal apiece in the first quarter, West Milford went on a 7-0 run to take an early 8-1 lead.
    It was more of the same in the second, with the Highlanders taking a 14-2 lead by halftime.
    The final score was 17-5.
    Attackman Casey Fagan led the way with five goals along with two assists, while Ray Gorny and Aidan Bolger each scored four goals and recorded two assists in the game.
    Shane Fava added three more goals to the total.
    Going into Monday’s match, West Milford was coming off of a loss to Wayne Valley on Saturday that broke the team’s four-game winning streak.
    In that game, the Highlanders couldn’t overcome a big second quarter from the Indians in which they were out-scored 4-0.
    The final score was 11-7.
    Bolger and Dylan Connors led West Milford with two goals each in the match.
    The Highlanders (6-3) looked to start a new winning streak when it took on Dayton at home on Thursday, April 18.
