WEST MILFORD — The West Milford Health Department, in partnership with Chilton Hospital, continues the “Wawayanda Walking Club” this spring. Enjoy the warm weather in a beautiful setting while getting exercise.
Did you know simply by walking regularly you can burn calories, strengthen muscles and bones, lower blood pressure, cut cholesterol levels, improve sleep, reduce stress and the risk of heart disease, diabetes and more? This walk is appropriate for most walking levels, beginners through advanced.
This 10-week walking club is free and is open to families or individuals in West Milford. The Walking Club will take place on Friday mornings, March 22 through May 24, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Wawayanda State Park, 885 Warwick Turnpike, Hewitt.
Participants will receive health education materials regarding nutrition, exercise and general healthy lifestyle tips. The goal of the Walking Club is to educate residents on the importance of exercise and proper nutrition and mostly making exercise a community event. This is also a great opportunity to get out and walk with a little one in the stroller.
Registration is required. Call Marianne Stillman, West Milford health educator, at 201-248-4551 or email mstillman@chiltonhealth.org.
