WEST MILFORD – The West Milford High School girls softball team lost to Passaic Valley on Tuesday, by a final score of 8-5.
That makes it three consecutive losses after the team’s two wins to start the season.
In Tuesday’s loss, the Lady Highlanders couldn’t overcome a big second inning from the Hornets in which the team scored four runs.
Jessica Reilly and Alexa Aiello each went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI in the losing effort.
Outfielder Natalie Marzalik also had a run and an RBI for West Milford, going 1-for-4 in the game.
Going into Tuesday’s contest, the Highlanders were coming off of another loss to Pequannock.
In that game, West Milford had a 3-2 lead through three innings only to allow six runs in the fourth.
The Highlanders were never able to recover, losing 10-6.
That defeat came after a loss to Indian Hills in a game in which the Highlanders were held scoreless, losing by a final score of 8-0.
The three losses followed two big wins to start the season, the first over Wayne Hills, a team West Milford beat handily by a final score of 10-0.
That game followed the season opening win over Bergen Tech.
The Highlanders (2-3) were scheduled to travel to DePaul next, where they will try to get back on track against the Spartans.
