West Milford High School senior Paige Masiello signed a letter of intent last week to continue her athletic career in softball at Rutgers University-Newark.
"I am very happy and humbled to announce my commitment to Rutgers University-Newark," Paige said. "I would not have made it this far without the support of my family, teammates and my coaches."
Paige’s love for softball began at an early age, and she seemed to be following in the footsteps of her older sister, who by then had already impressed her softball coaches, and later signed with Ramapo College for softball.
The younger Masiello began playing softball in the West Milford Girls Softball League at around age 5, and quickly displayed special skills on the field that set her apart from many of her peers. Paige continued to develop her talents throughout her early years of play in the West Milford Girls Softball Association Travel League. When she entered high school, Paige made the cut and became a strong player for the West Milford High School Highlanders Softball Team, where she has since blazed her own trail of success and accomplishments in the sport.
In his Dec. 2 Superintendent’s Blog, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Alex Anemone congratulated Paige on this accomplishment, and wrote: “On behalf of the entire West Milford community, please join me in wishing her and all our student-athletes the best of luck.”
