Two Sparta residents were very much a part of the scene at the NCAA first and second round games men’s basketball tournament, “March Madness” games, at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia on Friday, March 17, and Sunday, March 20, as Villanova University senior Craig Golascewski conducted the Wildcats Band and University of Connecticut sophomore Noah Parker played the bass drum in the Huskies Pep Band . ’Nova, the top seed in the Minneapolis Region, beat both Monmouth and Kentucky in Philly and, with Golascewski leading the band, the Wildcats will now take on fourth-seeded Boston College in a regional semifinal round game at 7:10 tomorrow night, Friday, March 24, at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. UConn, the top seed in the Washington, D.C. Region, got by both Albany and Arizona at Wachovia and, with Parker providing the beat, is slated to face the fifth-seeded University of Washington at 10 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, March 24, in the region semifinals at the Verizon Center.
