Zinctown 5K Ian Scott won the Zinctown Historic Preservation 5K Run contested in Franklin on Saturday, July 1. Scott completed the 3.1-mile course that started and ended at the Franklin School on Buckwheat Road in a time of 18:50. Brian Foulds, Franklin, 38:57 West Essex YMCA 5K Newton’s Michael Barone led a pack of Sussex County runners in the 6th Annual West Essex 5K Run on Sunday morning. The 44-year-old Barone crossed the line 11th in the field of 275 participants as he completed the 3.1-mile flat course on residential roads that was mostly shaded in a time of 18:48. Sparta’s 63-year-old Jeno Nyerges won the men’s 60 to 64 age division in 24:34. Oak Ridge’s 59-year-old Bill Gaudette picked up the third place award in the 55 to 59 bracket with a time of 21:20.
