Six youth wrestlers medal at states

WEST MILFORD — For the past two weekends, a dozen wrestlers from the West Milford Junior Wrestling program have competed in the state championships. Six have medaled in their respective weight categories, a record for the local program.

Damian Maver and Joe Sorecco placed second in their respective weight categories, the top finishes for West Milford. Scott Lavelle had a third place finish while Jordan Robinson placed fourth. These boys wrestled in Moorsetown the weekend of March 10 for the 12U and 14U age groups.

West Milford had two fifth place finishers last weekend in Union, as Mike Matsakis and David Jaggiello made it to the podium in their weight classes.

"Just getting to the states is a major accomplishment," said volunteer Coach Dave Maver. "All the boys wrestled great and deserve credit. I am proud of all the boys."
