    High Point 16, Tech 3 Mikayla Wingle and Krysten Dombrowski powered High Point to a 16-3 rout of Sussex Tech in a non-league softball game played Thursday in Sparta. Wingle went deep in the fourth, finishing with three hits, three RBIs and two runs, while Dombrowski homered, plated three runs and scored three times as High Point upped its record to 8-3. Jess Fedor pitched a complete game, going five innings as the contest was halted after five innings by the 10-run mercy rule. Fedor scattered seven hits and fanned a dozen in picking up the “W” in her first decision of the season. PJ 3, Whippany 0 Sarah Olsen hurled a six-hitter as Pope John blanked Whippany Park 3-0 in a non-league encounter. Pope John snapped a scoreless tie, plating all three runs in the top of the fifth, keyed by a squeeze bunt off the bat of Julia Beese that drove in two runs. Meghan Prettyman lofted a sacrifice fly that knocked in the other run. Kittatinny 2, Sparta 1 Abby Ralph tripled in the game-winning tally in the bottom of the sixth as Kittatinny squeaked out a 2-1 victory over Sparta to improve to 8-2. Jamie LaCouture went the distance, scattering four hits while fanning seven in raising her mark to 6-0. Lenape 13, Newton 1 Lenape Valley got into the “W” column after dropping its first 11 outings when the Lady Patriots routed Newton 13-1. Shannon O’Brien went the route, allowing three hits, fanning four while surrendering an unearned run. O’Brien was chosen the SCIL/Richards and Summers Player of the Week. Megan Cicchetti legged out a three-bagger and singled twice in five official at bats, knocking in three runs, while Stephanie Secola tripled and finished with three RBIs.
