    Pope 22, Vernon 0 Pope John opened its season with a 22-0 romp over Vernon on Monday. Hurley and Samantha Bell had three hits and drove in five runs apiece. Amanda Kent went 3 for 3 , scoring four times while Michelle Caprice went 3 for 4. Sarah Olsen went the first four innings, allowing three hits and fanning 10 in the win over the Lady Vikings. Pope 11, Hopatcong 2 Pope John routed Hopatcong 11-2 on Thursday. Dana Inez went the distance against the Chiefs, scattering eight hits while fanning seven. Megan Prettman blasted a three-run round-tripper against Hopatcong while Lauren Hurley went 3 for 4, knocking in two runs, scoring twice and stealing three bases. Against Vernon, Sparta 11, Newton 0 Baylea Sperring hurled a two-hit shutout as Sparta coasted to an 11-0 win over Newton in a game curtailed after five innings by the 10-run mercy rule. Tara Perez doubled and singled in three at bats, driving in two runs and Victoria Buechel singled twice, scoring twice. Sparta 3, Kittatinny 2 Two days earlier, Sparta had edged Kittatinny 3-2 by scoring three times in the bottom of the sixth. Danielle Koert doubled in two runs while Raleigh Sperring was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Sarah Fletcher worked the final two innings in relief, picking up the win while fanning three. Kittatinny 4 Lenape 3 Kittatinny rebounded to defeat Lenape Valley 4-3 in eight innings as Christina Curtis went 4 for 5 with two doubles while scoring twice. Molly Green pitched a six-hitter in picking up the win. High Point 7 Wallkill 2 High Point rolled to a 7-2 victory over Wallkill Valley as Morgan Bell went the distance, fanning seven and allowing only three singles. Mikayla Wingle singled twice and tripled in four at bats, while teammates Kristy Bigg and Lisa Bortone each collected a pair of singles in four official plate appearances. Jefferson 11, Lenape 2 Jefferson toppled Lenape Valley 11-2, as Brittany Gerritsen fanned 10 to pick up the “W” while going 2 for 4 at the plate, including a triple, driving in three and scoring twice. Breannae Mannherz knocked in a pair of runs while Megan Kelly singled and tripled, driving in a run. Jefferson 6 Rutherford 0 The Falcons blanked Rutherford 6-0 as Gerritsen hurled a one-hit shutout. She was named the SCIL/Richards and Summers Player of the Week. Corey Becker doubled home three runs in the first, and Liz Ashman had a solo homer in the second.
