    Walkill 8, Morris Catholic 0 Diane Washer powered Walkill Valley to an 8-0 rout of Morris Catholic in a non-league encounter that opened the softball campaign on Saturday in Hardyston. Washer knocked in five run while collecting three hits - a homer, triple and single - and Amanda Nann legged out a two-bagger. Stephanie Romano went the distance, scattering three hits as she fanned six. Kittatinny 7, Hackettstown 0 Sarah Stocklynski went the distance, allowing only two hits, whiffing nine and waling three as Kittatinny opened with a 7-0 shutout over Hackettstown in Hampton. Stocklynski aided her own cause when she doubled in a pair of runs and was chosen the SCIL/Richards and Summers Player of the Week. Christina Curtis collected three hits on four official plate appearances, driving in a pair of runs while Kaitlin Muller doubled in a run. Hunterdon 1, Sparta 0 Sparta was edged 1-0 by Hunterdon Central in a 10-inning non-league confrontation that was determined by the international tie-breaker criteria played in Sparta. Frosh Sarah Fletcher allowed only four hits in absorbing the loss as she went the distance in her varsity debut. Jamie Cresbaugh went 2 for 4 with Danielle Koert and Carly Mora both singled.
