Vernon gymnast sweeps competition

    Vernon - Megan Matchett of Vernon brought home the first all-around gold medal in the USAIGC Bronze Level competion on April 29 at Sports Fitness & Fun in Florida, N.Y. The tournament included gymnasts from five centers in New York and New Jersey. Matchett has trained at Westy’s Gymnastics in Hardyston since 1998. This is her fourth year competing. In addition to the all-around gold medal, she received a first-place gold medal on floor, two second-place silver medals on vault and uneven parallel bars, and a third-place bronze medal on the balance beam. She has qualified for the state championships to be held over the Memorial Day Weekend at the Wildwood Convention Center
