WEST MILFORD — For the second time this season Andrew Vigorita is the Highlander football player of the week. Andrew shared his first player of the week honors with fellow teammate Anthony Battinelli. This week Andrew takes it on his own due to his unselfish play and team leadership, according to Highlander head Coach Don Dougherty.
Due to an injury at quarterback, Andrew stepped up to take charge of the Highlander offense, moving from wide receiver to quarterback. During the game, Andrew made his way back to his starting position at wide receiver.
At quarterback, he rushed 11 times for 79 yards, and completed five of seven passes for 20 yards in just two quarters. Right before halftime, Andrew jumped back into his original wide receiver position and remained there the rest of the game. Andrew finished the game with seven catches for 101 yards.
"Andrew is the perfect example of what a team captain should be," said Dougherty. "He is a natural born leader on and off the field. He leads by example by being a true student athlete."
