The West Milford Competition Cheer team, "WMCC REVOLUTION," completed its inaugural 2017/2018 season May 6 at the North American Spirit Tournament at Harrah’s, Atlantic City.
West Milford's Senior Team (grades 5th through 8th) finished third in their division.
“We are very proud of our team," said Coach Erica Butler. "We came together for the first time back in August with many first and second year cheerleaders."
"To go to a National cheer competition and come home with a trophy shows how far we have come as a team in a short time, ” the coach said.
Coach Michele Golding was also happy with the outcome.
“All their hard work and dedication really paid off," Golding said. "These girls were truly committed and it showed. We could not be more proud of them.”
West Milford's Junior team (4th grade and under) finished in second place, missing first place by just 2.2 points. Since the tournament didn’t have a Rec Pee Wee Level 3 division, the junior team went up a level to compete against a 7th grade and under team. The Juniors were also recognized as “Club Perfection,” delivering a zero deduction performance.
“We are so proud of these girls with what they accomplished this year and we expect even greater things from them in the future,” team Coach Tricia Gerst said.
Her fellow coach said the perfect performance shows their talent.
“These girls worked so hard and it showed with a flawless performance," said Coach Charley Morran. "This team is going to do great things as they continue together.”THE To learn more about WMCC and receive information on the upcoming 2018/2019 season, check out the website: www.westmilfordcompetitioncheer.org or visit Facebook at www.facebook.com/westmilfordcompetitioncheer/
