WEST MILFORD As the Highlander football team was dispatching the visiting Chiefs, the boys soccer team was dropping Pequannock, 6-3. It was a sophomore affair for the Highlanders as sophomore Jason Berlinger railed the opening goal unassisted to put his team up 1-0. A minute later, off of the feed from Kyle Gilroy, Berlinger notched his second goal of the day giving the Highlanders a 2-0 lead. It was Gilroy again who fed teammates Steven Stewart and Chris Pick who found the back of the net for a comfortable 4-0 lead. The home team fought back against the visiting Highlanders, as Sal Devito fed Jesse Puzio and Puzio scored unassisted to pull Pequannock to within 4-2. But the Highlanders pulled away in the second half, with Stewart taking the feed from Zach Hunt for the score and Justin Morgan taking the assist from Berlinger. Pequannock’s Chris Vulez fed Tyler Yankovich for a score, but it was too little too late. Keeper Nick Resavy has 13 saves for the visitors, and Kevin Hill has eight for the home team.
