On Friday, February 3, the West Milford PAL Wildcats-6 blasted Long Valley 52-37 in their Lakeland League match up. Josh Basket led the Wildcats-6 with 18 points. Tyler Maurer (15), John Quazza (6), Steven Cowdin (6), Garvin Jones (5), and Aidan Stewart (2) helped by putting points on the board. The Widcats then smothered Jefferson 37-26 on Feb 10 to sweep their three game Lakeland League regular season series. On Saturday, February 13, the Wildcats-6 travel basketball team ripped Pequannock 46-36 at Pequannock High School in Pequannock. The victory was the West Milford’s 17th win of the season. The Wildcats jumped out to a 13-0 first quarter lead and never looked back. Tyler Maurer (10), Josh Basket (9), Aidan Stewart (9), Nick Conlon (6), John Buechel (5), Garvin Jones (5), and John Quazza (2) led West Milford’s balanced scoring attack. The following Saturday the shorthanded Wildcats-6 fought to the bitter end in losing a slugfest to Hackensack 60-59. The game was a gut check for the undersized Wildcats, who were towered over by their larger “Shaq-like” opponents. Although looking like a scene from “David vs. Goliath” under the basket, West Milford held their own, led by Maurer’s ten rebounds. Terramoccia (7) and Stewart (6) also provided muscle off the boards. On Feb. 18 the team overwhelmed Roxbury 50-33. The Wildcats’ swarming defense proved too much for Roxbury to handle, as West Milford’s aggression led to 19 steals throughout the afternoon. The victory was West Milford’s 19th of the season. On Friday, February 17, they clipped Rockaway 43-40. Josh Basket (18 points) and Aidan Stewart (16) paced the Wildcats’ attack.
