Last Friday, The “cardiac kids” from West Milford pulled off another stunning come-from-behind victory by overturning Kinnelon 72-70 in double overtime at the PAL Building in West Milford. The Wildcats-7 continued with their trend of falling behind early, as Kinnelon built up a 31-17 third quarter lead. As their trademark has been all season, West Milford once again figured out a way to claw their way back from a double digit deficit. Aggressive full court defense and relentless energy helped the undersized Wildcats-7 battle back against their bigger and stronger opponents. Josh Basket led the offensive charge by netting 27 points, including seven buckets from three point land. Garvin Jones (16), Aidan Stewart (10), Tyler Maurer (6), John Buechel (5), Nick Conlon (3), Casey Terramoccia (2), John Quazza (2), and Will Gallagher (1) helped exercise the scoreboard. Maurer added 5 assists. On defense, Jones (8 rebounds), Maurer (7), Stewart (7), Quazza (6), Basket (6), Buechel (3), and Conlon (3) helped wipe the glass clean. Jones also swiped 4 Kinnelon passes. Alex Malaguti provided great hustle as well. The next day the Wildcats-7 smothered Totowa 63-49 in their Wayne PAL Winter League matchup in Wayne. The Wildcats’ intimidating full court press forced seven first period turnovers that allowed West Milford to gain a comfortable lead that they would not relinquish throughout the game. Will Gallagher had his breakout performance by pouring in 18 points. Josh Basket (13), Casey Terramoccia (11), Tyler Mauer (7), John Buechel (4), Aidan Stewart (4), John Quazza (2), Garvin Jones (2), and Alex Malaguti (2) also put points on the board for the Wildcats-7. Maurer, Buechel and Terramoccia added some nifty passing for West Milford. The Wildcats-7 West Milford will host Rockaway at 8:30 p.m. tonight.
