Shupak sets hurdles record Sparta’s Paul Shupak snapped the record in the 55-meter high hurdles when he broke the tape in the gold medal time of at the 8th Annual Polar Bear Games contested on Jan. 2 on the campus of Drew University in Madison. Shupak was timed in 7.97 seconds, erasing the record of 7.84 set by Union’s Chris Haley in 2003. Shupak was chosen the Lake Mohawk Bagel Sparta Athlete of the Week.
