WEST MILFORD – The Varsity Dance Team is hosting its annual Home Competition at West Milford High School on Jan. 13.
The team of Madyson Healy, Renee burns, Amaya Falby, Brielle Pelissier, Meghan Kochan, Madison Maver, Alyssa Gunning, and Abby Weiss will be competing against other schools and studios, with routines in jazz, hip-hop, kick, and variety.
“Last year we had 17 schools come,” team Spokesman Kate Burns said.
Each team performs twice depending on the number that register for the competition, Burns said.
Registrations are accepted until the first week of January.
“We are so very excited this year,” she said. “We have an exceptionally strong team this year with technically challenging choreography and passionate coaches.”
The team has been hosting competitions since 2004.
Burns said the 14 years’ experience serving as a host make it easier to conduct the competition.
She also said the biggest benefit is seeing all the teams enjoy participating in the event.
Members of the public are invited to the competition in the gym and the cost of admission is $8 or $5 for students and seniors.
Burns said the team really appreciates the support of the community throughout the year.
