Beautiful day greets hundreds of dogs and their humans Hewitt Over 150 dogs brought their owners to Wawayanda State Park last Sunday, Oct. 16, to participate in the West Milford Animal Shelter's annual Walk-A-Dog-A-Thon. It was a perfect fall day, just right for a walk and a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery. All of them took a walk in the park to help support the over 1,000 homeless animals the shelter's volunteers care for every year. And because the shelter is managed and maintained completely by volunteers, all funds raised at the event will be used to care and provide for all of those homeless animal until they find new homes and families. Six great prizes were won by the six participants who raised the most money. They were: Grand Prize: $400 won by James Warden, who donated his prize to the shelter 1st Prize: $400 gift certificate for JRC/Jewelry Repair Center won by Victoria Reinstra (donated by Karen Ortoloni) 2nd Prize:$300 ShopRite gift certificate won by Don Babula and Kate Foester, who donated their prize to the shelter (donated by Inserra Supermarkets) 3rd Prize: $299.00 Color Nook and $50.00 vet services gift certificate won by Kara Bartyzel, who donated the gift certificate to the shelter (donated by Greenwood Lake Animal Hospital) 4th Prize: $275 Cafe Amore gift certificate won by Kathy Morrison (donated by Critter Sitter Pet Sitting Services) 5th Prize: $250 Pet Portrait won by Roberta and Ardeth Wurdemann (donated by Portrait Artistry by Linda Marie) Dogs and their owners could also participate in six fun contests and the winning dogs received gift bags and ribbons.
