NEW JERSEY —The deadline for submitting an application for a black bear hunting season permit is midnight on Sunday, October 30. After midnight the computerized application website will no longer be available. The Internet application is the only means to apply for a permit and no paper applications will be accepted for the black bear season. Permit application information, including links to a map of the Black Bear Hunt Zones and Zone Descriptions, the training seminar schedule and the actual application website, is found at http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/bearseas05.htm. Applicants should know what zone they want, and preferred seminar date if they have not previously attended one, before beginning the application process. Applicants are reminded that a black bear hunt cannot take place until the comprehensive policy formulated by the Fish and Game Council is approved by the DEP Commissioner. Therefore, the issuance of black bear hunting permits shall occur only if the comprehensive policy is approved.
