Tough Sledders

STOCKHOLM — “Put your disability on ice” was how Saturday night’s sled hockey game at Skylands Ice World was billed. Disabled members of the New Jersey Devils Youth Hockey Club sled hockey team versed the Wallkill Valley Rangers in a just-for-fun sled hockey game. Admission was free to all and in the spirit of good sportsmanship, members of the Wallkill Rangers pushed many of the Devils who were unable to propel themselves around the ice. The players often checked their own teammates hard into the walls of the arena, much to the delight of the audience.
