Waiting can be so hard ...

The spring kittens are starting to arrive at the West Milford Animal Shelter but there are still many young and adult cats waiting for a new home and family. One such cat is Mickey. He has been at the shelter for about a year and has been patiently waiting to be the “chosen” one. When he first arrived at the shelter, he was passed over because everyone looking for a new pet was captivated by the many cute and playful kittens available for adoption. After most of the kittens were adopted, he was still waiting. There were many adopters who came into the shelter but they chose other cats. Many times the adopters would narrow their choices down to two - Mickey and another cat. Every time the other cat was chosen. This happened again Mother’s Day weekend. His plight fits the saying “Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.” Mickey’s problem seems to be that he is just an ordinary looking orange cat. He has a pleasant personality but is not outgoing or extremely lively - just nice, pleasant and very loving. He loves people but is not fond of other cats. He would prefer to be someone’s one and only feline love. All of the shelter volunteers are hoping Mickey will find a new home and family soon and he will no longer be the nice cat who finishes last.
