WEST MILFORD — During the week of April 24-28,, all West Milford Township elementary schools celebrated “Peace Week.” Each school had planned activities to heighten student awareness about the importance of resolving conflicts in a peaceful manner, and treating each other with kindness and respect. Parents were urged to help the children participate in this fun and educational week and encouraged to speak to them about the important message behind each activity. Students decorated the hallways and participated in different activities every day to celebrate Peace Week. Monday - Wacky Hair Day - Students were asked to have crazy hair but cool heads and to let their wacky hair be a reminder that they think before they act. Tuesday - Turn Your Back On Violence Day - Students wore their shirts backwards as an outward sign that they are turning their backs on violent acts. Wednesday - Wear Purple - Students wore purple to symbolize their unity for a violence-free school. Thursday - Clashin’ Fashion Day - Students wore clothes that clashed to show their clothes might clash but their personalities don’t have to clash. Friday - “No Sweat” Day - Students wore sweats to show that they don’t need to sweat the small stuff.
