January 7 - DWI - Route 23/Echo Lake Road Ryan N. Trinh, Whippany, Age 35 While on patrol in the vicinity of Echo Lake Road and Route 23 northbound officer observed three cars stopped at red light. Signal turned green and three cars started ahead. The first two went straight across Route 23 N and into the crossover to go south on Route 23, the third a dark green Honda Accord turned left onto Route 23 northbound thereby going south in the northbound lanes. Officer activated emergency lights and sounded the horn to give warning. Vehicle continued south in the northbound lane where two vehicles were approaching from the south. They both stopped, as did the above-mentioned driver. Driver was found to be DWI and arrested for same. Driver was also charged with a MV violation (wrong way on one way street). P.O. Dennis O’Donnell January 7 - DWI - Gould Road Shane VanDunk, West Milford, Age 23 On the above date at 1548 hours, Officer Malfetti was traveling westbound on Gould Road and observed a green Jeep swerve over the double yellow lines and into officer’s lane of travel and then swerve back into the eastbound lane. Officer activated emergency lights and turned around to stop vehicle. A motor vehicle stop was made. An odor of an alcoholic beverage was observed on his breath. He was charged with DWI, failure to keep right, maintenance of lamps, and failure to inspect. P.O. Michael Malfetti January 5 - MVA - Route 23 Rachel Armetta, Glenwood, Age 22 D1 stated she was traveling north on Route 23 in the right lane of traffic. Driver stated she lost control of the vehicle. Vehicle went off the road to the right and struck a tree coming to rest facing south. Driver produced an expired insurance card. Driver was charged with failure to exhibit documents. P.O. Stephen Singerline January 5 - Possession of CDS - Union Valley Road Richard Castronova, Jr., West Milford, Age 25 Officer Richnavsky was dispatched to above location on an ambulance request for a medical condition. While speaking with victim, above, he appeared to be under the influence of CDS. Victim was charged with Possession of CDS and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to Chilton hospital by WMFAS squad. P.O. George Richnavsky January 4 - DWI - Union Valley Road/Marshall Hill Road Linda Indoe, Hewitt, Age 52 Officer received a report from dispatch that an erratic driver was traveling on White Road towards Union Valley Road. Officer followed the above vehicle and observed it crossing its entire vehicle width over the double yellow lines. Emergency lights and siren were instituted in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued south on Union Valley Road where it eventually came to a complete stop. Officer observed the above driver to be under the influence of DWI. She was charged with DWI and MV summons for disregard of marked lanes. P.O. Tyrus Hicks January 3 - DWI - Banker Road Richard J. Morris, Hewitt, Age 71 While on patrol on Banker Road officer observed a vehicle coming the opposite direction with high beams on. Driver swerved across the lane towards patrol vehicle. Officer swerved to the right to avoid being struck. Vehicle was observed to be traveling at a high rate of speed. Driver was found to be DWI and arrested for DWI and issued MV summons for careless driving. Sgt. James Paul January 2 - Burglary/Theft - Otterhole Road Four saws taken from shop bay area at above location. Descriptions: 12” Huskavana chain saw with orange plastic case value $700, three Stihl Cutquik saw, model #TS400, 760 and 510 each valued at $700. Under investigation. P.O. William Pittelko
