May 10 Jorge Buerano, 31, of Baltimore, Md., was issued a summons for careless driving after striking a car from behind as it turned onto Pinecliff Lake Drive from Union Valley Road. The other car was driven by Kelly Caslander, 28, of Florida, N.Y. May 14 Lynn Kerstner, 55, of Newfoundland was issued a summons for driving while intoxicated and failure to wear a seat belt after she failed to negotiate a curve on Clinton Road. She drove off the road, struck a rocky embankment and a tree, and the car flipped over onto its roof. Kerstner suffered injuries and was transported to Chilton Memorial Hospital. May 17 Twenty-two-year-old Joshua Yacco of West Milford was issued a summons for failure to report an accident, leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving after hitting a parked car on Circle Boulevard. Yacco stated that while traveling west on Circle Boulevard he glanced down at his radio to change the station. He left the scene of the accident and was located at his residence. Jules Leduc, 42, of West Milford was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right after striking a utility pole and eventually re-entering the roadway. An investigation revealed the Leduc was traveling north on Macopin Road and was under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance at the time of the incident. West Milford First Aid Squad #47 and ALS #901 responded to the scene. Leduc was transported to Chilton Memorial Hospital by West Milford First Aid Squad. May 22 Eric Metrock, 19, of Newfoundland was charged with driving while intoxicated after losing control of his vehicle on Union Valley Road and striking a utility pole and several bushes. The vehicle flipped over and rolled several times, striking a guard wire. Glen Slater, 57, of West Milford was arrested on Marshall Hill Road for driving while intoxicated. He also received a summons for not using child restraints. May 24 Fifty-four-year-old Edward Conte of Mt. Arlington received a summons for failure to keep right after crossing over the double yellow line on Oak Ridge Road and striking a car driven by Andrea Meyer of Oak Ridge. Both drivers were transported to Chilton Memorial Hospital with injuries. May 27 A motorcyclist was flown by Northstar to Morristown Memorial Hospital for injuries he sustained after an accident on Macopin Road. Stephen Sangle, 29, of Wayne struck a car driven by Mary Smilek, 65, of West Milford after Smilek turned left onto Macopin Road in front of Sangle’s motorcycle. Smilek was issued a summons for failure to yield right of way and Sangle was issued a summons for failure to wear approved helmet.
