West Milford resident Emily Green helped the Regis College swimming and diving team extend its national record when it was named an Academic All-American Swimming Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for the spring 2005 semester. A senior majoring in psychology and a swimmer for the team, Green is a graduate of West Milford High School. Regis, located in Wesotn, Mass., is the only college on any competitive level to have earned Academic All-American status since the award was initiated in 1989. The Regis record now stretches to thirty consecutive semesters. To qualify for this honor, the grade point average of the entire swimming and diving squad, including all team members on the eligibility list, must average at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. Regis ranked at the "superior" level, coming in at a 3.27. Regis College is a Catholic educational community with approximately 1200 students enrolled in 23 undergraduate majors.
