West Milford West Milford residents must have their septic systems pumped at least once every three years according to an ordinance that was effective on Jan. 1, 2009. According to the health department, this is to minimize future malfunctions of the systems. Licensed septic sludge removal operators/tank pumpers conducting business in West Milford Township must have a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection operator’s license. Pumpers are asked to come to the health department immediately to register their business and to pick up an instruction packet and a bundle of forms. After servicing, each form should be filled out by tank pumpers and returned to the health department for filing. The registration fee for operators/tank pumpers is $100 payable to the Township of West Milford. If you have any questions concerning licensing procedures or requirements, feel free to contact the West Milford Health Department at 973-728-2720.
