February 9 - DWI - Highlander Drive Steven Pavel III, West Milford, Age 25 While on patrol, P.O. Lewis Road observed the above subject parked in the parking lot next to the high school track field. Two occupants were in the vehicle. Officer approached the vehicle and observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the accused breath. Field sobriety testing was done and driver was placed under arrest for DWI. Pavel was transported to headquarters for processing. He was issued summons for DWI and given a court date of 2/22/07. P.O. Lewis Rose February 11 - DWI - Wooley Road Michael Gabay, West Milford, Age 44 On the above date at 0009 hours, P.O. Michael Malfetti responded to Wooley Road on the report of someone hitting a mailbox with a vehicle. Officer observed a white pickup near the location. Officer stopped vehicle and while speaking with driver detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on the drivers breath. P.O. Stephen Stratton arrived at the scene to assist with field sobriety testing. Accused was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to headquarters. P.O. Michael Malfetti February 7 - MVA - Wooley Road Michael J. Gabay, West Milford, Age 44 V1 was traveling west on Wooley Road, the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, crossed over the center line, struck a rock wall and light post located at 284 Wooley Road and left the scene. Driver was issued summons for DWI. P.O. Stephen Stratton February 10 - Possession of CDS - Union Valley Road Joanne Jovelle-Kessell, West Milford, Age 50 While traveling on Union Valley Road Officer Tyrus Hicks observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner. Officer stopped the vehicle and found the driver to throw something from the vehicle. Officer Hicks exited the patrol vehicle, walked over to the thrown item and found what appeared to be partially smoked marijuana. An odor of burnt marijuana was detected to come from within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle found contraband and marijuana. Ms. Jovelle-Kessell was placed under arrest. P.O. Casey Casbarro transported accused to police headquarters for processing. Driver was issued summons for careless driving, throwing debris from vehicle and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. P.O. Tyrus Hicks February 9 - DWI - Gould Road James Smidt, West Milford, Age 37 P.O. Laura Paul and P.O. Stephen Braikovich were dispatched to the above location at 0335 hours on the report of a vehicle into a tree on Gould Road. West Milford First Aid Squad #48 responded to the scene, removed the victim from the vehicle and transported him to Morristown Memorial Hospital. The accused was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. James Smidt was issued summons for DWI, careless driving, and failure to keep right. P.O. Laura Paul February 9 - MVA - Gould Road James M. Smidt, West Milford, Age 37 V1 traveling north on Gould Road. As the driver rounded a bend and approached a small bridge he struck the guide rail on the right side of the roadway, then crossed both lanes of travel and struck a large tree on the opposite side of the road.
