April 8 n MVA/Possession of CDS, Operating MV under the influence, Careless Driving n Route 23 #1 - Dominick Abruzzese, Warwick, NY, Age 51 #2 n Timothy Soder, Coral Springs, Fla, Age 44 While on patrol, Officers Nevin, Rose and Singerline were dispatched to Route 23 north at the intersection with Canistear Road on the report of a motor vehicle accident with reported injuries called in by Hardyston Police. A black Hyundai with NY registration was found with heavy front-end damage. The traffic light stanchion was lying in the roadway. The second vehicle, a silver Dodge pickup bearing FLA registration was observed approximately 150 ft. north of the intersection with rear right damage. Ptl. Chris Bonfiglio of the Hardyston Police Department witnessed the collision. Bonfiglio was stopped at the Canistear Rd. jug handle from Route 23 South when he observed the traffic signal for north-south Route 23 traffic turn yellow. The Dodge pickup slowed to a stop in the right lane of Route 23 north. The Black Hyundai struck the rear of the pickup. The pickup propelled through the intersection from the force of the collision. The Hyundai went off the road to the right and struck the traffic light stanchion coming to rest within the intersection. Abruzze was arrested for DUI, Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle and careless driving. P.O. Stephen Singerline April 13 n MVA/DWI n Route 23 D#1 -Karen F. Weil, Pompton Lakes, Age 49 D#2 n Ik H. Kim, Franklin, Age 54 V1 traveling in front of V2 northbound on Route 23 in the right hand lane just south of Oak Ridge Road. V1 pulled to the shoulder by the Newfoundland Ambulance building after missing its intended turn off onto the jug handle to cross the highway for Oak Ridge Road. V1 then suddenly veered back into traffic in attempt to cross the highway in attempt to turn onto Oak Ridge Road. V1 struck V2 in the passenger side causing major damage. No injuries reported. D1 issued summons for DWI. P.O. George Richnavsky April 17 n MVA n Route 23 #1 n Linda Hack, Kinnelon, Age 49 #2 n Brian McCabe, Sussex, Age 41 V1 came to a stop on Oak Ridge Road at Route 23 south preparing to turn right. V2 came to a stop directly behind V1. V1 rolled forward and stopped due to oncoming traffic. V2 struck the rear of V1. P.O. Stephen Singerline April 17 n MVA n Clinton Road Samuel Held, Hewitt, Age 78 D1 was traveling south on Clinton Road when he was struck by V2. V2 was unoccupied and parked in gear with the emergency brake set when it rolled down the driveway and struck V1. Both occupants of V1 were taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital by Upper Greenwood Lake Volunteer Ambulance Corp #55. P.O. Casey Casbarro April 17 n n Burglary/Theft n Lakeshore Drive ATV was found missing from garage at above location. Description: Green Kawasaki Brute Force 750 with a toolbox on front. P.O. Shannon Sommerville April 19 n DWI n Union Valley Road Michael J. Arasim, West Milford, Age 29 P.O. Gregory Post was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with the second vehicle fleeing the scene. P.O. Frank Elia also responded. D1 (Ryan Gibbons, West Milford, age 27) was waiting for a vehicle to turn into the Dunkin Donuts parking lot when he was struck by V2 (Michael Arasim). Vehicle #2 then fled the scene. There were no injuries to both parties. D2 was arrested at his residence for DWI. V1 had minor rear end damage and V2 had heavy front-end damage. P.O. Gregory Post April 19 n Theft n Macopin Middle School Ipod was stolen from unlocked gym locker. The Ipod is described as silver in color and valued between $150 and $200. P.O. Robert Tomaschek April 19 n MVA/DWI/Refusal to submit to Breath Tests n Andrew Court Dorina E. Piscope, West Milford, Age 39 Driver stated that she went to make a left where she thought there was a street and hit a telephone pole with the left front of the vehicle. Minor injuries. She declined medical attention. Driver was arrested for DWI, failure to exhibit documents, uninsured vehicle, careless driving, failure to keep right and failure to submit breath samples. P.O. Dennis O’Donnell May 3 n MVA n Route 23 Katie Latour, Newfoundland, Age 34 Vehicle struck curb of grass island and rolled over twice before coming back to upright and coasted backwards southbound striking a guardrail and coming to rest across the left lane at a diagonal facing northbound. A witness stated that the vehicle was in the left lane and swerved before hitting the island and overturning. Driver was uncertain of what happened. Driver and passengers transported to Chilton Hospital. P.O. Dennis O’Donnell May 4 n DWI n Elm St. Jonathan C. Laski, West Milford, Age 20 While on patrol Officer James DeVore observed a black jeep with loud exhaust. Officer DeVore subsequently arrested driver for DWI, loud exhaust, failure to exhibit drivers license and failure to exhibit registration. P.O. James DeVore May 6 n MVA/DWI n route 23 John Russo, Passaic, Age 59 V1 was traveling south on Old Route 23. As the roadway turned to the west, V1 continued straight. V1 jumped the curb of a small island that separates Old Route 23 and the Old Route 23 Crossover. V1 rode across the island and overturned. V1 slid across the roadway on its right side and ejected driver. V1 struck the far curb and came to rest in the roadway. D1 stated that he was unfamiliar with the road. D1 initially declined medical treatment but was later transported to Chilton Hospital after complaining of pain at police headquarters. Driver was issued summons for DWI and failure to keep right. P.O. Stephen Singerline May 6 n Theft of Motor Vehiclen Macopin Road Officer Lewis Rose responded to the above location a report of the theft of a work van. The victim stated that the van was parking in front of his residence and that the van was unlocked and the keys were under the drivers seat. The van was stolen between midnight and 3:15 a.m. Drywall tools were located in the van. Description of Van: 1990 Dodge, white in color. P.O. Lewis Rose
