August 27 - DWI - Woodland Road Carlos J. Carrillo, Hewitt, Age 23 On the above date at 3:33 p.m. hours while on routine patrol, Officer Gregory Post, Jr. was dispatched to Reidy Place on the report of an intoxicated person riding a four-wheeler on the roadway. On arrival officer found the above to be operating a 2001 Red Honda four wheeler. Driver was found to be DWI. He was arrested, processed at headquarters and released to his sister. P.O. Gregory Post, Jr. August 25 - Burglary/Theft - Oak Ridge Road On the above date Detective Joseph Walker and P.O. John Pesenti responded to Longstaff’s Oak Ridge Pub on the report of a smash and grab type of burglary/theft. An employee discovered the burglary when he arrived at work on August 25. The glass in the front entrance door had been entirely shattered. A cash register and several packs of cigarettes were taken. Case is under investigation. P.O. John Pesenti August 19 - Possession of Marijuana - Route 23/Paradise Road On the above date at 10:45 p.m. Officer Gary Yarnall observed a 2004 Subaru four-door vehicle traveling in the right lane of Route 23 northbound in the area of La Rue Road. The vehicle was observed to be operating in an erratic manner. Officer Yarnall activated emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop. An odor of burnt marijuana was observed to be coming from the vehicle. The operator, Marshall Goldstein, West Milford, age 18, was issued a summons for CDS in a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and failure to signal lane change. The passenger, Owen Delgado, West Milford, age 18, was found to have drug paraphernalia on his person and was charged with possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were processed at headquarters. Vehicle was impounded. P.O. Gary Yarnall August 22 - Stolen Vehicle - Overlook Road Officer Lewis Rose was dispatched to the above location on the report of a stolen motor vehicle. Upon arrival he spoke with the victim who stated that she left for work approximately 7 a.m. and returned at 7 p.m. to find her van wasn’t in the driveway. The van was entered stolen into NCIC. Wayne Police stopped the above vehicle at 1 a.m. this date. The driver and passenger were arrested on warrants and the vehicle was impounded. The owner was notified that her vehicle was recovered and instructed on how to get her vehicle out of impound in Wayne. P.O. Lewis Rose August 22 - Use/Influence of CDS - East Shore Road Melvin B. Sparks, Age 38, Greenwood Lake, NY While on patrol on East Shore Road in an area south of Awosting Road, Officer Lewis Rose observed a vehicle parked off the main roadway. Officer pulled in behind the white four-door Mercedes Benz bearing NY registration. P.O. Rose observed two persons seated in the front of the vehicle. Melvin B. Sparks, Age 38, Greenwood Lake, NY (accused) and passenger. Officer exited his patrol vehicle, approached vehicle and observed numerous green zip lock bags on the ground near the driver’s side of the vehicle. P.O. Tyrus Hicks arrived as backup at this time. While conducting a search, Officer Rose found drug paraphernalia in vehicle. Driver was issued two MV summonses (Operating a MV under the influence, Operating MV in possession of CDS and) and charged with Use/Influence of CDS and Possession of CDS with intent to use. Court date 8/31/06. P.O. Lewis Rose
