WEST MILFORD Westbrook Elementary marked the 100th day of school on February 10, but preparations began a few weeks earlier as the students and staff began to collect hundreds of pennies to support a world-wide effort called “Smile Train”. This voluntary, non-profit organization is dedicated to providing corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and other birth deformities by offering free surgery and free training of doctors in many parts of the world. Over the past several years the school has collected thousands of dollars for this worthy cause. The children also took part in a food drive with donations to be given to the Center for Food Action in West Milford and, in addition, collected animal food for the West Milford Animal Shelter.
