What's happenin' at the library?

    WEST MILFORD-The West Milford Township Library is hosting several events in July. Children and adults alike can visit the library for any of these free performances or activities. The Glinka Russian Folk ensemble, which has entertained audiences at Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, and the PNC Arts center, will be at the library at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 12. Fast-paced dances, tender ballads, Russian mountain music, and performers in authentic costumes will be presented. Cultural chat about the contradictions and colors of Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Crimea, Tadzhikistan, Azerbaijan, Modlavia, and Belarus will introduce each act. Strike a pose at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13 with Elena Valentino of Mountain Lake Yoga. Along with stretching and breathing practices, children ages 8 through 12 will be introduced to the Baby Cobra, backward boat, tree, and lion poses. Magician Brian Richards will visit the library on Wednesday, July 14, giving a performance at 1 p.m. Richards will present tricks and jokes for an intended audience of kids age 5-12, as well as the young at heart. The event will be held on the library lawn or at Town Hall in case of rain. At 7 p.m. on Monday, July 19, the library will host special guest "Eleanor Roosevelt," portrayed by Rene Goodwin of the American Historical Theatre. "Life was meant to be lived, curiosity must be kept alive" was Roosevelt's motto, and with that she carved out a career of her own and was voted "Most Admired Woman in America" for 13 years. The performance on the library's lawn is free, and those who attend should bring a lawn chair or blanket.
