To the editor: Some members of this council Swept into office in 2003 The Redevelopment Zone the issue The struggle to maintain control Changed our form of government Told us how much better it would be 2004, though, turned against them First the Highlands Task Force Vindicating the sale Then the Highlands Act - we’re back on track! The Preservation Area now we’re called Preserved the ones who’d heard the truth Of Water, Water, Water! Challenged and defeated in 2004 Warden and Nolan - a breath of fresh air Finally, a chance to be fair But opposition to their ideas Led to slander, lawsuits, tears and fears Tried to undo Greenwood Lake’s weeds But there were those who’d undermine these good deeds Now here we are: Budget crunches, has led to hunches That power must be maintained No layoffs, while some who should only be planning their retirement Or perhaps a new venue - so sorry, taxpayers Its all up to you - dig a little deeper Jeepers, Creepers! And now next year, I hear - spend the Redevelopment Zone money? C’mon honey - ain’t it funny? What would you do (if your dreams had come true) And those funds weren’t there? The people know the truth The majority of you just don’t care If you want fiscal responsibility In place of the good ol’ boys With their expensive toys and endless ploys You’ve been had, Dad Time to flip, vote Democratic Start getting Socratic The question is: What do you want to do? Folks, its all up to you Vote James Rauth and Jim Geist on the Democratic Line I promise -- they’ll watch your back And the bottom line Kathleen Mary Caren West Milford
