Council should have supported nursing home workers

To the editor: Every so often we are given a chance to show what is inside of us; what is at the heart of our moral center. When the Republican majority of the West Milford Township council voted down a resolution in support of the poorly paid aides at Milford Manor nursing home, five of the seven people elected to lead our municipality showed us all that they are morally bankrupt. Support for people who are not fairly compensated for a fair day’s work should not be a partisan issue. The Republicans on the township council and several of their camp followers in the audience, however, made it one, and they sullied us all. Shame on them. Martin O’Shea West Milford
