Improving West Milford

To the Editor: I am a resident of West Milford for almost three years. Like many new residents here, I am originally from Bergen County. I am a stay-at-home mom to my 2-year-old son. Since living here I have read about improving tourism in our township and encouraging people to shop in our local stores. Unfortunately our township cannot compare to some surrounding areas as far as attracting consumers. First off, our center of town is not charming at all. What this town needs is some quality higher-end shops like the ones in Warwick. It would be wonderful if we could have a local gourmet grocery with a butcher and bakery and fresh produce and homemade foods. We need something for the younger kids to do — an indoor play gym or a place where moms can take their little ones to do crafts etc. The township should enforce residents to keep their property in tip-top shape as to enhance the beauty of the area. The opportunities are endless and hopefully in time this township will take shape. Lauren Barnable Hewitt
