A debate should be scheduled between the four Republican candidates running in the June 4, 2013 primary election to showcase their thoughts, goals, talents and stances on the positions and issues that matter the most to the voters of West Milford. Debates are a great way for the candidates to introduce themselves to the voting public. It would enable the candidates to have a forum where they could share their hopes and concerns with the public. Empowering the people to make an informed choice should be the goal and aspiration of every candidate. Every citizen too, should expect and demand that a debate be scheduled, somehow and somewhere each election cycle. This opportunity has eluded the voters of West Milford for some time now. As a recent candidate myself, I was surprised and disappointed that a political debate was not organized and held when I was running for office.
I am certain that Republican council candidates Michele Dale and Lou Signorino are more than ready, willing and able to debate the important local issues with the other two candidates. This debate could and should happen. The people of this town deserve it. I hope we can find the right venue for such an event.
It is also my hope the other two candidates would be willing to step up to the plate and answer the call to be seen and heard by the voting public. For my part, I will assist in any way I can to make this debate happen.
