Election season is once again upon us. This year, we are faced with the difficult task of choosing a mayor to lead West Milford for the next four years along with two town council members.
Republican candidates Lou Signorino, Mike Hensley and Tim Wagner have spearheaded the endeavor to obtain much deserved Highlands Act funding. They have led the charge on the Newark Watershed tax appeal, bringing $2.3 million in additional tax revenues to West Milford. All of this has been done at no additional cost to the taxpayers.
Democrat Bettina Bieri’s eight years of service are appreciated, but it is time for a change. Over her two terms as mayor, she and her Democrat allies on the Passaic County Freeholder Board have done nothing to prevent tax increases in West Milford.
Democrats have raised West Milford’s county taxes 22.33 percent in just eight years since Bieri took office. This year, we suffered a $1.2 million increase while Paterson’s county taxes went down. Why does West Milford continue to foot the bill so the Democrats can keep their down-county donors and allies happy?
We cannot allow the Democrats to unfairly penalize West Milford’s taxpayers with unjustified tax increases. We need passionate and fiscally responsible leadership that is based on substantive action, not on ribbon cuttings and photo ops in the newspapers.
Please join me in supporting Republican candidates Lou Signorino for mayor and Mike Hensley and Tim Wagner for council on Tuesday, Nov. 3, along with DeCroce and Webber for Assembly and Cupoli, Walsh and Merhi for Freeholder.
Vote Row B for the responsible and positive leadership West Milford’s taxpayers deserve.
Matthew Conlon
Republican Municipal Chairman
